About Me

BACKGROUND AND TRAINING

I am a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama and Illinois. I have earned my Master of Science in Education in Clinical Counseling from Northern Illinois University. Additionally, I hold a National Board of Certified Counselors Certificate.  I am currently completing my PhD in Psychology, with a Specialization in Health Psychology and Human Development.

I have significant experience with a variety of mental health issues that are present in daily society. My training and experience include working with populations suffering from Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Serious Mental Illness and Trauma, Women's Issues in settings such as private practice, community mental health, hospitals, and with high school and college age groups. I am knowledgeable with counseling in Christian based practices. Furthermore, I have extensive training working with survivors of suicide and trauma. My previous work has involved groups for survivors of suicide and have worked for the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. I utilize therapeutic tools such as Christian Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

I provide psychotherapy for individuals wanting to develop and build coping skills to create positive change within their lives. I provide extensive knowledge in guiding individuals in the direction that best serves them. I am skilled in helping clients identify their goals to achieve their desired purpose. I am a motivated, compassionate and caring therapist, whose foundation is based on my Christian beliefs, morals and values. Striving to do my best to meet my clients where they are on their journey to finding peace, joy and fulfillment. My goal is to help clients identify the strengths in their lives to eliminate anxiety, depression, guilt, rejection, self-doubt, shame, and past traumas. I work alongside my clients to build confidence, self-worth and value to their daily lives, which will encompass their future. With guided talk therapy, cognitive and solution focused therapies and/or endless therapeutic resources the light begins to shine through.
