BACKGROUND AND TRAINING

Jasmine Watson is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Alabama and Illinois. She earned her M.S.Ed. in Clinical Counseling from Northern Illinois University. Mrs. Watson holds a National Board of Certified Counselors Certificate.  She is currently completing her PhD in Psychology, with a Specialization in Health Psychology.

Mrs. Watson has significant experience with a variety of mental health issues that are present in daily society. Mrs. Watson’s training and experience include working with populations suffering from Anxiety, Depression, Mood Disorders, Serious Mental Illness and Trauma in private practice, community mental health, hospitals, and on high school and college campuses. She has very knowledgeable with counseling in Christian based practices. Mrs. Watson has extensive training working with survivors of suicide and trauma. She held groups for survivors of suicide and worked for the Suicide Prevention Lifeline. She utilizes therapeutic tools such as Christian Counseling, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Emotion-Focused Therapy, Mindfulness and Solution-Focused Brief Therapy.

Mrs. Watson's private practice is affiliated with Alabama Psychological Services Center, a group of highly skilled psychologists and therapists who serve the Northern Alabama community.

Mrs. Watson provides psychotherapy for individuals wanting to develop and build coping skills to create positive change within their lives. She provides extensive knowledge in guiding individuals, couples, families and groups in the direction that best serves them. She is skilled in helping her clients identify their goals to achieve their desired purpose. Mrs. Watson is a motivated, compassionate and caring therapist, whose foundation is based on her Christian beliefs, morals and values. She strives to do her best to meet her clients where they are on their journey to finding peace, joy and fulfillment. Her goal is to help clients identify the strengths in their lives to eliminate anxiety, depression, guilt, rejection, self-doubt, and shame.. Mrs. Watson works alongside her clients to build confidence, self-worth and value to their daily lives, which will encompass their future.
